MEG KALLMAN

I AM DRAWN TO FIRST LIGHT, SHIFTING COLORS, TRANSFORMING CLOUDS, WAVES AND SHADOWS.

THESE ARE THE ORDINARY, YET EXTRAORDINARY, PHENOMENA OF THE NATURAL WORLD.

PAINTING WITH THE MATERIAL OF ENCAUSTIC ALLOWS ME TO LAY COLOR QUICKLY AND INTUITIVELY.

I FOLLOW THE FLOW, AVOIDING IMPOSING PRECONCEIVED NOTIONS.

THIS WAY OF PAINTING ECHOES THE WAY I APPROACH MY SOCIAL WORK PRACTICE.

I AM CURIOUS, AND I RESPECT AND RESPOND TO WHAT EMERGES.

AT TIMES MY IMAGES REFLECT WHAT I EXPERIENCE AS PEACE. AT OTHER TIMES, THEY ARE THE RESULT OF A SURGE OF EMOTION.
